Mizo Anthurium festival 2010

AIZAWL: Mizoram governor MM Lakhera today inaugurated the two-day long Anthurium Festival at Reiek Tourist Resort.
Anthurium is a popular flower and the festival on the flora has been organised by state tourism department to woo tourists.

Foundation stone of Khuangchera’s memorial laid

AIZAWL: Brig. S.K. Verma, Commander of 23 sector Assam Rifles laid the foundation stone of the memorial of famous Mizo legendary fighter Khuangchera near Ailawng village, about 25 kilometres west of Aizawl, an AR release said today.

Manipur State to import rice from Myanmar

IMPHAL: Manipur will import 300 metric tonnes of rice from Myanmar from this month to meet the scarcity of rice in the state, official sources said today.

The state government has received the nod of the Centre to import the rice from the neighbouring country.

Birla Corp to sign pact for Assam cement plant

GUWAHATI: The Birla Corporation Ltd plans to sign a pact with the Assam government in September to set up a one million tonne (mt) cement plant in that state, Birla Corp chairman Harsh V. Lodha said here Tuesday.

‘Everything is in place, we are just waiting for the chief minister to recover fully and resume office,’ Lodha told reporters on the sidelines of an interactive session organised by Indian Chamber of Commerce.
