Lal Thanhawla greets Mizos on accord anniversary

AIZAWL: Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lal Thanhawla has extended his greetings to the people of the State and Mizos all over the world on the eve of the 24th anniversary of the Mizoram Peace Accord. The Mizoram Accord was signed on June 30, 1986 by the Mizo National Front rebels with the Union Government of India in New Delhi. The day is now commemorated as ‘Peace Day’ all over the State.

NSG trains Assam forest guards

GUWAHATI: The National Security Guard (NSG) trained the Assam Forest Department newly recruited forest guards, which include women, for the first time since 1992 in martial arts, use of arms, physical fitness, theoretical and field survey of forest areas at Assam Forest School in Guwahati.

Nagaland Govt constitutes probe panel on DRDA cash recovery

KOHIMA: The Government of Nagaland, through the Rural Development Department, has constituted a two-member committee, headed by the Officer on Special Duty (OSD), to probe the DRDA Mon cash recovery by Bokajan police in Assam.

A release issued here today by the Joint Director of the Rural Development Department, Kelei Zeliang, said the Committee has been directed to investigate the matter and submit their report within ten days from the date of notification on June 16.

Mizoram observes Int’l Day Against Drug Abuse

AIZAWL: Mizoram today observed International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking even though the day falls on June 26, with a theme “Think health – not drugs” where one minute’s silence was observed for the youths killed by drugs.
