Meghalaya rejects reports of violence against Nepalese

SHILLONG: he Meghalaya government Wednesday joined the Gorkha Welfare Centre and the Khasi Students Union in rejecting Nepalese media reports of alleged communal violence against the Nepali community in the state.

Kathmandu-based media reports earlier claimed that at least 17 Nepali people lost their lives and thousands were forced to flee following attacks by miscreants in Meghalaya.

6th Schedule and Greater Nagaland are same: AMSGO

IMPHAL : The All Manipur Students Guardians Organization (AMSGO) Manipur has stated that the demand for the 6th Schedule and the demand for Greater Nagaland are one and the same.

This was stated H Kula, advisor AMSGO during a press meet held today at its head office at Palace Compound, Imphal.

Members of tribal district council take oath in Tripura

KHUMLWUNG : The newly elected members of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council took oath at Khumlwung on Tuesday.

27 members including three women were administered the official oath by the State’s Law Secretary Swapan Chandra Das in the presence of the Chief Executive Officer Kumar Alok at the headquarters of Autonomous District Council (ADC).

Manipur government employees’ strike called off (Lead)

IMPHAL: he four-month long Manipur government employees’ strike over salary hikes and payment of arrears was called off following an agreement between the employees and the state government, officials said Thursday.
The strike ended late Wednesday and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh between the Joint Administrative Council of Employees Organisations (JACEO) and state government representatives here.
