Mizo Students Association sets textbooks on fire

AIZAWL: Mizo Zirlai Pawl (Mizo Students Association), the state’s apex students’ body, today set copies of class nine English textbook on fire, alleging that the book contained wrong informations about Mizoram and Mizos.

The student organisation alleged that the textbook “Enjoy Your English”, prepared by the Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE), in chapter 10 under the headline “Jewel of North East: Mizoram”, described Mizoram and the Mizos with ‘full of blunders’.

Japan to explore Meghalaya’s potential golf tourism destination

SHILLONG: Japan is keen to explore Meghalaya’s potential as a golf tourism destination.

”Japan will organise Indo-Japan Golf Tournament in Shillong which would attract tourists from home and abroad,” Japan Ambassador to India Hideaki Domichi told Chief Minister DD Lapang.

Explosives found near Manipur Governor’s office

IMPHAL: On the eve of Durga Puja, the Manipur had a major security scare after a car laden with explosives was found parked inside the Raj Bhavan. Shockingly, the car loaded with 25-kg explosives was found just 100 feet away from the Governor’s office. It was due to the timely detection by the Manipur Police bomb disposal squad that a major blast could be averted on time.
