Mizo artist sets up first ever fine art school

AIZAWL: Laltanpuia, a promising painter who started the first fine arts school in Mizoram, is encouraging the youth to take to innovative ways to earn a living.

Laltanpuia, for whom painting was just a hobby, has now turned it into a mission to fight social problems like militancy, drugs and poverty in the northeast. Art not only pleases the eyes but also conveys an important message about culture, life and most of all peace.

Mobile phones barred in Tripura schools

AGARTALA: The Tripura government has banned the use of mobile phones in schools for hampering academic “environment and concentration” of students.

Director of School Education, H L Chakraborty today said a circular banning the use of cell phones in the schools was issued yesterday.

Manipur to provide swine flu treatment in districts

IMPHAL: In an effort to prevent spread of swine flu in Manipur, the state government has decided to provide medical facilities to treat the deadly virus at all district headquarters.
